Community invited as C-N “Eagles Night” offers evening of family fun

Carson-Newman’s mascot, Talon, gathers with students on campus. Talon will be on hand for photos as the University hosts Eagles Night, an indoor community fair. The event will feature games and food with all proceeds benefiting Isaiah 117 House and Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies.

Carson-Newman University invites the community to “Eagles Night,” an evening of family fun on campus. The Thursday, Feb. 6 event benefits Isaiah 117 House and Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies (AMOS). “Eagles Night” is sponsored by C-N’s Community Connections Scholars in collaboration with C-N Athletics, Center for Community Engagement, Student Experiences, and local churches.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. families and children of all ages are invited to the Maddox Student Activities Center located on Branner Ave. in Jefferson City. The event will feature games with members of the Eagles athletic teams including, pickleball, football and soccer activities. Guests are invited to also take part in basketball games, a golf simulator and even get their picture made with Carson-Newman’s mascot, Talon.

Entrance into the event requires a donation item from a list of options:

  • Canned goods
  • Clothing in all sizes (only new)
  • Diapers, wipes, baby formula
  • Personal hygiene items & cleaning supplies
  • Gift cards (restaurants, groceries, etc.)

All items benefit Isaiah 117 House and AMOS. Food will be available with all money raised also going toward the two ministries.

According to Rachel Rogers, coordinator for C-N’s Community Connections and Faith and Justice, there was intentional effort made to keep the event and food options affordable for families.

“This was important because we know how hard economically families have had it recently and we didn’t want anyone to feel excluded. Providing affordable, safe, and memorable activities for the younger people in our community helps build healthy relationships which is an important part of any healthy community,” she said. “It’s also showing love to all people just as Christ did for us.”
